In the past month I’ve been checking out FL Studio for Mac.

Apr 27, 2015  The popularity of Gross Beat has grown along with the popularity of trap music.FL Studio producers have been going HAM with the stutter, glitch, gate, and scratch effects the plugin provides. You can hear industry producers like Daft Punk, Southside, TM88, MikeWillMadeIt, Izzy The Producer, and Tarentino all using Gross Beat on their beats. Since FL Studio is currently only available on. Gross Beat Time and Volume presets can be linked to a keyboard, pad controller or automation source for on-the-fly changes to the preset. Preset slots can be set to momentary (key-held), return to base (slot 1) or hold mode on a per-preset basis.

One really cool built in effect in FL is called Gross Beat.

I translated the entire gating section of the Gross Beat Plug-in into Ableton Live using Dummy Audio Clips.
You can use this in any project as many times as you want. And because we using Clips in Ableton Live’s Session view we can take advantage of the full power of the Session view.Editing Clips Envelopes, Using Follow Action and even recording a Dummy Clip performance to the Arrangement view.

It’s easy to use with very quick results.

Gross beat is perfect for real-time or rendered gating, glitch, repeat, scratching and stutter performances. Gross Beat stores audio in a 2-bar rolling buffer under the control of 36 user definable time and volume envelopes, giving you unlimited creative control.


Live or automated performance


Gross Beat Time and Volume presets can be linked to a keyboard, pad controller or automation source for on-the-fly changes to the preset. Preset slots can be set to momentary (key-held), return to base (slot 1) or hold mode on a per-preset basis. Preset-change synchronization can be set from immediate through to 4 beats (1 bar).

In addition to the gating possibilities afforded by the spline based envelope, Gross Beat is perfect for side-chain effects without the need to link to an audio source. Just select one of the ducking-style presets for instant side-chain pumping.
